Michelle Hayes, AGPCNP-BC

Primary Care Provider

Peninsula

Michelle Hayes is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in adult and geriatric primary care. She completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree at South University while working as a Registered Nurse in trauma/ICU and moving with her husband and three small children between Germany, Georgia and Florida.  She and her family settled in Virginia in 2017 after her husband completed his military service. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.

Michelle is passionate about caring for the geriatric community. Her focus in practice is to improve quality of life and overall outcome for dementia patients by providing education related to how dementia works and progresses. Her philosophy is that teaching families and caregivers how to effectively approach and interact with a dementia patient is the most effective way to manage behaviors and decrease excessive medicating while preserving their dignity, respect and autonomy.

Michelle was born and raised in the Sunshine State. She loves all things Disney and while she enjoys hanging out at the beach, she would choose swimming with the Manatees in one of Florida’s natural springs over sand and surf any day. She loves reading, crafting and historical documentaries. She currently lives in the Richmond area with her husband, Spencer, and their three children, Amber, Gunner and Asher. They look forward to purchasing property and building a home in Gloucester in the near future.
