Mental Illness Awareness Week 2021

Every year, millions of Americans endure what is life with a mental health condition. Mental illness doesn’t just affect the individual with the condition; it affects their family, friends, coworkers, and anyone who is apart of the person’s daily life. Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking, or behavior (or a combination of these). Mental illness is more common than one might think, but treatment is available. Our team of experienced psychiatry specialists are focused on improving the quality of life for their patients every day. They take the time to understand what their patient is going through and what they need in that moment. This allows the patient to feel safe along with providing the patient consistent quality care.

Each year at this time, during the first week of October, people throughout the country raise awareness of mental illness in order to silence the stigma and find those in need the help they deserve. This year’s Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) awareness campaign is “Together for Mental Health,” where the focus is on the importance of advocating for better care for people with serious mental illness (SMI).
